In
this episode I talk to the Queens-based artist, Kerri Ammirata.
Kerri was born in Long Island and partly raised in the Midwest. She
earned her MFA from Boston University in 2010 and a BA from
Anderson University in 2006. Her first New York solo exhibition
'Deep in the Knowing' was last month at Space 776.
Kerri’s work is in the form of painted shaped panels
that utilize the grid and geometry. Her work responds to home
altars and the idea of a spiritual domestic space. In this
interview we discuss her studio practice, her work in non-profit
art spaces, finding your center after it's been rocked,
vulnerability in your work and depression which she also addresses
in her work.
